Cecil's formative years of ministry began with his maternal grandfather, the late Bishop Hartwell L. Jones, Jr. (Founder of the Christian Tabernacle of Love, Faith & Deliverance Church) and his paternal grandmother, the late Dr. Madeline Thompson (Leader of the Legendary Clara Ward Singers). Cecil was trained in ministry at his local church as well as given many opportunities to travel the country with his grandmother. Dr. Madeline Thompson was not only Cecil's caregiver but was also the first to teach and give opportunity for Cecil and his siblings to perform on stage in several capacities.

As an adolescent, Cecil was hand-selected to sing with Professor Iris Stevenson and the world-renowned Crenshaw Elite Choir. Cecil became a foundational vocalist, soloist, dancer, actor and eventually one of the Assistant Directors of the choir. His professional artistic performances led him throughout the USA, Europe, Asia and Africa, with command performances for President Barack Obama, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Smokie Robinson and the likes.

Cecil accepted his call from God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in December of 2006 at the New Beginnings Community Outreach Worship Center (Bishop Cynthia C. Turner, Pastor). Cecil was licensed as a Gospel Minister, June 30, 2013, by his late father, Bishop Miquail M. Broadous, Sr. Minister Cecil assisted Bishop Broadous at the Grace Temple Baptist Church for many years. He actively supported in-house and outreach programs for the community and performed daily ministry duties such as, preaching, teaching, pastoral care, community outreach, discipleship, and office work. Minister Cecil served as Church Administrator and Minister of Music & Worship Arts of the Grace Temple Baptist Church, as well as other worship communities in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Minister Cecil was ordained as an Elder by both the late Reverend, Dr. Edward V. Hill, II and Bishop Hillrie Murphy.

Elder Cecil serves in several ministerial capacities in the Music and Youth Departments of the Church of God in Christ. Locally, Elder Cecil served for seven years as the Youth & Young Adult Pastor of the | 88th Street Temple Church of God in Christ (Superintendent Anthony L. Williams, Pastor); on the jurisdictional level Elder Cecil currently serves as the Youth President of the California Southwest Jurisdiction (Bishop Hillrie Murphy); on the regional level Elder Cecil serves as the Music Department President of the Southwest Region representing the jurisdictional music departments of Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and Utah; and on the national level Elder Cecil serves as Assistant Coordinator of the International Youth Choir alongside Gospel Music Legend, Kierra Sheard Kelly.

In 2019, the Lord commissioned Elder Cecil to take on another task, one that would become his greatest yet - that is to shepherd the flock of God through Cecil Thompson Ministries. Pastor Cecil Thompson has been leading this group of believers since that time and what started off as a small bi-weekly Bible Study and Prayer Group, has now converted into The Glory Church LA (GCLA).

​

It is the heart of Pastor Cecil (as Servant Leader) to provide effective ministry to the holistic man. In the short time of only five years, Pastor Cecil has established a community of believers with over 10 ministries: Daily prayer call, weekly virtual Bible Studies, scholastic motivations with educational endeavors such as, tutoring sessions, college preparatory assistance, scholarship awards and youth programs designed to build individual and team ministry. Pastor Cecil has also given leadership to health and wellness initiatives like the monthly Worship Workout Program, not to mention weekly Morning Glory Worship Services at 8:00AM.

​

In his professional career, Pastor Cecil is an Outreach Chaplain at the Los Angeles Mission. His goal is to help break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, by stabilizing people in a safe and spiritual environment, connecting them to solutions and walking with them on their Christian journey. Above all, Pastor Cecil's greatest joy is seeing souls added to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Through anointed, effective, and innovative approaches, Pastor Cecil Thompson seeks to spread the message of the Agape (unconditional) Love of Jesus. Pastor Cecil is the father of one beautiful daughter, the apple of his eye, Kennedy Grace Thompson.
